As Chief Creative Officer of the Little Explorer, Big World Initiative, I had the privilege of witnessing something truly special this past August. We partnered with Gloria Valderrama FundaRVE to host Story Hour in Soledad, Atlántico, with a focus on reaching rural communities. This event was much more than just storytelling; it was about creating meaningful moments where children could connect with literature and begin to see it as a gateway to knowledge, especially through the beloved tales of The Adventures of Pili and The Adventures of Luna.

During Story Hour, first-grade students from the Isaac Newton District Educational Institution in Barranquilla, Atlántico read our bilingual books. It was incredible to watch these young minds dive into the magical worlds created by our stories. As the tales of Pili unfolded in English, the children weren't just entertained—they were taking their first steps toward bilingualism. Hearing the stories in a second language allowed them to become comfortable with English in a way that felt natural and fun, which is crucial in developing their communication skills early on.

At Little Explorer, Big World, our mission has always been to make learning accessible and enjoyable, especially in remote communities. Story Hour is a perfect example of how we aim to bring children closer to literature while promoting bilingualism from an early age. We believe that introducing young learners to multiple languages in a supportive environment lays the groundwork for a future where they can confidently navigate different cultures and ideas.

The experience not only gave these children new English vocabulary and expressions, but also deepened their love for reading and learning. By connecting with the stories, they started building a foundation for bilingualism that will be an invaluable skill as they grow.

This event reminded me of the incredible impact education can have when we create opportunities for children to access resources that broaden their horizons. Story Hour was more than just a successful event; it was a transformative experience for the young explorers of the Isaac Newton School. It's moments like these that reaffirm our commitment to bringing the joy of learning to every corner of the world.

I'm excited to continue this journey, knowing that each story we share, and each word we teach, helps open a new door for these bright, young minds.
