Raffi Khatchadourian

About

Raffi Khatchadourian is a longtime staff writer for The New Yorker, where he has covered a wide range of topics: foreign affairs, the arts, science, and technology, among others. His writing has been anthologized in the “Best American Magazine Writing'' series, and on three occasions he has been a finalist for a National Magazine Award—twice for profile writing, and once, in collaboration with The New Yorker's digital team, for multimedia. His work has also been honored by the Overseas Press Club and by the James Beard Foundation, and in 2022 he was a recipient of a Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award.

Khatchadourian will use his fellowship at the Safina Center to research whaling and the conflict over whales in the nineteen seventies and eighties.
