Virtual screening of a short documentary, “The Place Where People Gather,” by Brooklyn Demme:
This stirring short documentary tells the story of the Ramapough Lenape people’s struggle to maintain the use of their ceremonial prayer land in Mahwah, NJ. The film highlights the importance of community, culture, and awareness of the land in a way that will speak to any lover of nature. A screening of the film will be followed by a talkback featuring filmmaker Brooklyn Demme, Ramapough Lenape Chief Perry, and other tribal members, hosted by Purbita Saha of Popular Science Magazine.
