Tuna, Yellowfin (Maguro) – Indian Ocean, Pole & Troll
Yellowfin Tuna grow quickly, produce millions of eggs per spawning, and live up to 9 years. They are found throughout the world’s tropical and sub-tropical oceans. In the Indian Ocean, Yellowfin Tuna are at a low abundance and undergoing overfishing.
Fishing with pole and troll is highly selective, resulting in minimal catches of non-target species. These fishing methods also cause little to no damage to bottom habitats. Management of the Indian Ocean pole and troll fisheries is considered moderately effective.
