Some problems exist with this species' status or catch methods, or information is insufficient for evaluating. Tuna, Albacore – South Atlantic, Pole & Troll These fish contain levels of mercury or PCBs that may pose a health risk to adults and children.

Albacore Tuna are a migratory, schooling fish with a high reproductive rate. While Albacore in the Pacific Ocean is reasonably abundant and healthy, it’s less abundant in the North Atlantic.

Pole and troll fishing for Albacore cause no habitat damage and result in a relatively small amount of bycatch.
