Tuna, Albacore (Bin’naga maguro) – North Pacific (U.S, Canada, Japan), Pole & Troll
Albacore Tuna are a migratory, schooling fish with a high reproductive rate. In the North Pacific, the abundance of Albacore Tuna is high and fishing levels on this species are sustainable. The U.S., Canada, and Japan all have moderately effective management in place.
Fishing with pole and troll gear is highly selective, resulting in minimal catches of non-target species. This type of gear also has little to no damage to bottom habitats.
