Striped Bass are a moderately growing, long-lived fish found along the Atlantic Coast of the U.S. and Canada. Striped Bass is an important recreational and commercial seafood species.
The U.S. Striped Bass fishery is well managed and the population is not currently overfished. However, abundance is below the target abundance level and has been declining over the last decade.
When caught with handlines, there are minimal effects on non-target species and bottom habitats.
