Shrimp, Ridgeback – U.S. California

Ridgeback Shrimp are found in the Pacific Ocean along the coast of southern California from Monterey Bay to Baja California, Mexico. They live for a maximum of 5 years and reach sexual maturity by two years of age.

In California, both the catches and the abundance of Ridgeback Shrimp fluctuate greatly from year to year. The current abundance level is unknown.

Ridgeback Shrimps are fished using bottom trawls, which can cause substantial damage to bottom habitats and results is an unknown amount of bycatch.
