Jesse Chapman-Bruschini – Staff Member
Jesse Chapman-Bruschini serves as The Safina Center’s Vice President, where she oversees the operations of the organization with a strong focus on communications, publications, events, fundraising, donor and partner relations.
Before coming to The Safina Center (formerly Blue Ocean Institute), Jesse was the Managing Director for the Institute for Ocean Conservation Science at Stony Brook University. Prior to these ocean institutes, Jesse worked at Wildlife Trust (now EcoHealth Alliance) as Program Manager and at the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS). At WCS Jesse worked first in the Latin America and Caribbean Program and later served as Senior Editor for the new book series, State of the Wild.
Fluent in Spanish, Jesse also worked for many years in advertising and public relations creating bilingual campaigns for a range of corporate and non-profit clients. International PR is her specialty.
Jesse earned her B.A. in Spanish Education and a Masters in Spanish Linguistics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her studies abroad included a year at the University of Barcelona, Spain. Jesse’s Master’s thesis focused on Arabisms in the modern Spanish language.
