Safina Center Creative Affiliate Paul Winter and his Consort will perform on Sunday, May 14th, at 4pm, in the historic UCC Church on the green in Norfolk, Connecticut. The concert is a celebration honoring the Consort’s longtime colleague, Tom Bates, who passed away in December. Tom was a master recording engineer and producer, who worked with the Consort and numerous members of our musical community during the past 30 years.
Entitled “A Concert for Tom,” the program will include musical offerings from an array of musicians, including flutist Rhonda Larson; cellist Eugene Friesen; bassist Eliot Wadopian; pianist and organist Elizabeth Allyn; percussionist and keyboardist Andrew Thomson, and Paul Winter on soprano sax. And the Consort will have various ensemble combinations.
The Consort’s great sound engineer from the ’80s and ’90s, Les Kahn, will be coming from Colorado to do sound for the event. Les also was co-producer and engineer on the Consort’s Spanish Angel album
